Field Service Mechanic A

Job Summary:

You are responsible for ensuring the proper operation of Herc Rentals' fleet at customer job sites. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment while working independently in the field. As a key resource, this position builds strong relationships with customers and supports community growth by ensuring equipment reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance for Herc-owned fleet at long-term customer job sites.
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and other routine services.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to maintain optimal operating condition.
• Troubleshoot and repair fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace parts as needed to ensure safe equipment functionality.
• Educate customers on proper equipment usage to prevent future breakdowns.
• Identify and address significant wear or tear to ensure continued equipment performance.
• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols while working at active job sites.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area on-site.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Build positive relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, and pumps.
• Proficiency in reading technical schematics, owner manuals, and warning labels.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools for repairs and services.
• Ability to be on-call for operational needs.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Strong follow-up and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in handling tools properly and safely.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with job site personnel.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing needs on active job sites.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including opening and closing work orders.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively across all company levels.

Salary:

Hourly pay range: $28/hr - $36/hr.
